Life before airplanes..

Back in the day, traveling by plane was a luxury that only the extremely rich could afford. But way before the airplanes existed, the only means for a group of people to travel via air was through hot air balloons!

We got invited to see the 16th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta last Sunday but we arrived a little after 8 AM. We didn't get to see the morning show since the balloons were scheduled to leave at 6 AM. So to take advantage of the extra time we had, our family friends toured us around Clark!

Let's have a little History lesson, shall we? For those of you who don't know, Clark used to be the Air Force Base of the Americans here in the Philippines (while Subic used to be the Naval Base). The Japanese, who also used this place when they invaded our country, left us a little something something. They built a shrine of peace probably as a sign of truce and harmony. Okay, so, the Americans came back but after Mt. Pinatubo erupted, the Americans left Clark. The Filipinos then started to use the place as a base.

Enough with the history lessons, you're probably wondering where the balloons are. You see, the wind was too strong and the night was a bit too cold for the balloons to stay open for long. So, I was only able to witness these:

Of course, I couldn't end this post without sharing what I wore to the festival. Here goes...
