The End of Something Beautiful

As Chaucer puts it, all good things must come to an end, and so it is with a heavy heart that we publish today our very last blog post here on TMF.

It was back in 2007 when Sophia and I decided to create a blog site to post our thoughts about beauty, fashion, food, and everything else in between. The lifestyle blog world back then was not as hip as it is now. Our first blog site, ilovepeppermintkiss.blogspot.com, was kept a secret for some time. We wrote under pen names and kept our identities hidden. We never posted pictures, only guides and just kept the blog in a magazine-like format. I remember it was around this time in 2009 that we did a "great reveal" and also decided to start thetwomissfits.com.
The time we were doing the "great reveal" at Peppermintkiss
Fast forward a few years after and here we are in 2015 writing our last blog post.

This blog has been a big part of our growing up years. It has evolved from being a simple blog site with a cutesy name (ilovepeppermintkiss) into a site for young professionals. It wasn't just a blog site anymore, it became, in a way, a sort of diary for us. Through TMF, you got to know us better and got to share in our joys and sorrows. It also became a platform for us to get to know different people from different walks of life, here and abroad. It expanded our world and gave us so many opportunities that we never even imagined could happen when we started our first blog site in 2007.

I know going into the details would only make me start crying so let me just take this chance to thank everyone for the wonderful nine years that you followed our blog.

First, thank you to our friends and family for the support you have extended during our blogging days. For the patience in waiting for us when events end late; for taking our outfit shots; for accompanying us to go shopping; for backing us up when we need new gadgets for our blogging needs; for understanding when we need some quiet time to write; for visiting the blog and telling your friends/colleagues to visit it; and generally for just being there and supporting us one hundred percent. Thank you.

Thank you also to our sponsors, our partners, media outfits, and everyone who ever extended invitations to us. We never thought our presence in the online world was ever significant enough to merit the trust that you gave us. You expanded our world and gave us so many opportunities we could only dream of. And for your belief in us and more, we are truly, greatly, thankful.

Lastly, Thank YOU, our readers, for visiting our site, giving comments and advice, for supporting our endeavors (our contests, our goals, our new projects) and just generally staying with us all throughout the years. Without you guys, TMF wouldn't have reached those heights you allowed us to reach.

It has been a truly wonderful ride. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it is bittersweet that we have to say goodbye now. This site, www.thetwomissfits.com will disappear from the online world, tomorrow, 19 September 2015. Also marking our 9th year anniversary in the blogging world.
The contents of the site, however will still be online, but will be available on ilovethetwomissfits.blogspot.com

As for Sophia and me, you will feel our presence online, through our online accounts:

For the last time, this has been your two miss fits, Ninin and Sophia, signing off.

Blessed

"You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean, in a drop." - Rumi

I celebrated my birthday just a few days ago in Cebu and it was all sorts of beautiful. The past few months have been emotional for me for the plain reason that I *think* I'm going through the quarter life crisis. My trip was no exception. I found myself being emotional and confused. But after seeing how beautiful Cebu is and how there are so many things I can be so grateful for in my life, I came back feeling refreshed and less confused altogether.

There is something so calming and therapeutic about being in nature. They say if you're depressed, you should go to the beach or the mountains. It will remind you that life is beautiful and that problems will get solved, eventually.

And it is true. We get so caught up in our inner struggles that we sometimes fail to see the good things happening around us. We fail to recognize our blessings and forget to be thankful sometimes for the good things we receive. This trip reminded me of that.

I am beyond blessed to be in a happy place right now. I didn't recognize that before the trip but looking at my pictures and reliving the moments made me realize how great my trip was and how amazing my life is. I know there will be times I will be insecure and would question my life but at least now I know there is merit in being grateful. Merit in just being thankful for what you have now and to not question it but just say thanks.

So allow me to say thank you to all of you too for being part of my life. Blogging has been a big part of my growing years, and you've been with me through all the struggles. I am blessed that I get to continue doing what I'm doing now. And to continue living the life I have now. With my whole heart, THANK YOU.

New Year OOTD

I was browsing through my phone when I saw some photos I took during the holidays. Sharing them with you, as an OOTD post. Nothing special, just regular outfits I wore going on errands during the holidays.
Shirt - Oxygen | Polka dotted skirt - F21 | Black sneakers - H&M
Dots to usher in the new year! Was feeling lazy so I went for a laid back look and went with a shirt and skirt. This is actually one of my go-to looks on lazy weekends. A mini skirt and a shirt is the easiest fashion pairing for me.
"Awesome" sweater - H&M | Black sneakers - H&M | White bag - H&M
The temperature dropped a little during the holidays so I got to wear long sleeves and sweaters in the day. I don't usually like wearing pants/ anything long but it is cold and it's the only thing that could keep me from getting sick :|

I can feel that 2015 will be a great year for me! It's just full of possibilities and exciting things! I missed blogging and I know I haven't been doing a lot of it last year. I can't even remember the last blog event I went to. Work has been so overwhelming and I know it comes with age too. Just so you know, I really appreciate  you reading our blog. It's been almost 8 years old now and it's unbelievable how much the blog has evolved. It reflected our growth as people, the things we went through, the challenges, our priorities, shifts in interests, and what we're still facing up to now. You've been with us throughout this whole journey (of discovering ourselves) and for that I am more than thankful!

Here's to having a great year to all of us! xoxo :)

Tale as old as time

Tale as old as time, true as it can be
Barely even friends, then somebody bends, unexpectedly

It's amazing how a simple phrase can take me back to a beautiful memory... "Tale as old as time" Wow. Just wow. Singing that one line evokes beautiful memories of my childhood and that beautiful scene from Beauty and the Beast.

Well, for one night, I was taken back to that moment in my childhood-- when everything was simpler, where plates and spoons can sing and dance, where good always prevails and where there's a thing as happy ever after.
Beauty and the Beast the Mustical at the Cultural Center of the Philippines

Honestly, the show wasn't what I expected. I imagined it to be more realistic, less "cartoon-y" but the musical wasn't staged like that. It was staged like something out of a children's book. The set, the costumes, the audio-visual effects were all extravagant and magical! It was exactly like the Disney movie!

I had a great time at the musical. I am a notorious musical sleeper, I sleep through musicals :| It's nothing to be proud of, but I am proud to say that I didn't sleep at all during Beauty and the Beast! I guess it was engaging enough for me to keep me awake all throughout the show :)

Thank you for the wonderful night! To the whole cast, congratulations! You guys did a good job in helping me relive my childhood. Little Ninin was squealing in delight the whole time that night :)

Lastly, let me do a brief #OOTD, because how can I not? :P

Went for this black jumpsuit because I feel lazy and black is always a good choice. Also, I wanted to hide the mosquito bites on my legs hence the long pants :)

I only realized how it was a smart move after seeing my pictures. I now officially a fan of jumpsuits! It made me look taller and it looks so formal. For something so comfortable, it was so surprising to see how nice it looked :)

Again, to the entire Beauty and the Beast production, thank you for a beautiful night!

Pizza done right

It all started with a bad craving. I wanted truffles. On pizza. NOTHING LESS.

And that craving led me to a new restaurant in Greenbelt, Bilbao:

I won't prolong the agony, let me get to the good part first. Introducing the Spinach truffle pizza:

It has spinach, prosciutto, and truffles! OMG, I cannot tell you enough how perfect this is! The crust is super thin and crispy. The spinach was fresh and really tasty and the truffles were not over powering like with some dishes. So good!

Apart from pizza, I also got a four cheese risotto. It was good but kinda lacked that extra oomph for me. Or maybe it wasn't cheesy enough?
My godmother got the spinach linguine with shrimps. She liked that the pasta was freshly made. It gave that added chewiness and freshness to the linguine :)

For my drink, I tried their blue velvet which is blueberry and cream cheese. I can't really taste the cream cheese part, but it wasn't so sweet which I liked.

Overall, I say Balboa did a good job with making the food authentic. I would have loved to go through the dessert menu too but I was so full already! I would go back there for the truffle pizza in a heart beat! Then churros for dessert. That sounds  like a good plan for me :)
