Tweeting

I've had a tweeter account since last year but it's only now that I really decided to revive it. Why? Because of ALL the cool celebrities!
If you don't know what twitter is, it's a site where you can updates of yourself. If you enjoy writing status messages in YM, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one too! But that's not why it's cool. It's cool because you get to follow the "tweets" of other people! So you'd get updates about their lives!

So, who have I been following?

No less than Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Pete Wentz, Perez Hilton, Nicole Richie, Heidi Montag, and LC Conrad, among others! It's so cool how you get updates straight from them! I think this is the BEST way of stalking your favorite celebrity. Hihi :P

Get a twitter account now if you still don't have one!

Restaurant Review: Oki Oki

I must admit, I am a big fan of Japanese Food. I totally love the sweet, salty and spicy taste of Japanese cuisine. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants is Red Kimono in Silver City but because we live far from Frontera Verde, we hardly get the chance to dine there. Because of this, one of the things I greatly miss is their Vegetarian Maki Roll. I've never found another resto offering this that its distinct Red Kimono taste still lingers in my mouth.

But alas! I think I just found my saviour: Oki Oki!

Oki Oki is a Japanese restaurant in Mall of Asia (among other locations). It's barely noticeable but I think after this post, you girls would be starting to not just notice it-- but look for it at MOA. Hehe :)

So, why do I think it's great?

1st reason: The food is tasty!
2nd reason: The servings are big!
and 3rd: It's cheap!

Sizzling Salmon, 330php
The salmon was really pink inside and it was a lot! Definitely for sharing!

Vegetarian maki, 95php

See how big each roll was? It was literally the size of a closed fist! I was really surprised with this because the one at Red Kimono (however delicious) was just one big piece divided in two. I was pleasantly surprised when they served me this. Definitely worth every buck!

So next time you go out and see a branch of Oki Oki, give it a chance, I'm sure it'll blow you away too!

Branches at:
Mall of Asia
Trinoma

Grad gift idea: HP Mini 1100

I know what a lot of people who have recently graduated (including S and I) are thinking about this time (aside from what college to go to or what job to take): what grad gift they should ask for! Admit it, at the back of your mind, you are! hihi :P

Well, we're here to help by giving you grad gift ideas! First on the list is the newest offering from HP, the HP Mini 1100 Vivienne Tam Edition

I am totally digging this one. Isn't it just ultra chic? It's lightweight, weighing a little more than 1kg but still brags of amazing features.

Here you can see the pocket PC being modelled as something you can bring to cocktail parties (not that you'll actually need to bring a laptop to party) but it just shows how chic and modern it is.

I am totally in love with the pocket pc. Most of my classmates bring mini notebooks to school, hence the handful of EEE PC owners. I am sure owning this Vivienne Tam mini pc will make anyone standout from the rest. Just look at how beautiful it looks! It can even pass for a clutch bag!

Know what's the coolest thing about it? It retails for Php 27,500. Not bad for an HP laptop right? You have to hurry though because only 250 units will be sold at HP stores in Trinoma, Mall of Asia and Glorietta! :)

Movie Review: 17 again

I've been wanting to drag my friends to watch 17 again since I heard it's a hit in the US. Well, we finally got to see the film and boy am I so glad we went to see it because I tell in you, this is one of the best teen flicks I have seen in a long while!

The story is very simple, unoriginal even. A 30 something guy regretted a choice he made when he was seventeen. A spirit guide came to him and he woke up being seventeen again. Sounds familiar? Yeah, I know... very 13 going on 30 indeed. The story was very simple, light and really hilarious! I think that's one of its appeals. It's such a typical teen flick that it just works for its audience. Hehe :) I mean, what do you expect from a teen flick?

But you know where the real money is? ZAC EFRON. Ohmygollywow! I am not a big fan of Zac but after the film, I think I'm crushing on him. Boy was he hot! I think he really made the right choice for not accepting the remake of Grease because it would totally stereotype him as a "musical" dude. In this film, you would see the other side of Zac you haven't seen before. He was so masculine, older and so not gay (as what I thought of his acting in HS musical.hehe) I was really shocked to see how well he could act! He was really believable as an older man trapped in a 17 year old body. Wow.

I tell you, you SHOULD see this film! This I think is one of the cutest summer films of 2009. Plus, you cannot miss out from seeing Zac. He was just so different in this film that I totally got it why America (and Vanessa Hudgens) swoons over him. hehe :)

So maybe the film isn't brilliant. But for what it is-- a teen flickthat is, I say it was good. Plus, I honestly think you would totally dig this movie for the sole reason that Zac Efron stars in it.

Oh boy, I just cannot get over how hot Zac was there. UNbelievable.

Try to note "Alex" (Sterling Knight) too. I can feel he's going to be big! If he seems familiar to you, you've probably seen him in Hannah Montana's "my bestfriend's boyfriend" episode :)

Jai Ho!

When Slumdog Millionaire won awards left and right, I immediately wanted to see the film. But for some reason, it is only now that it made its way to the Philippines. Well, well, well, I'm glad I waited because it has proven that it is indeed worthy of acclaim!

The plot is simple: an Indian boy wins in Who wants to be a Millionaire. His win was questionned because they did not think he was capable of answering all those questions. BUT as the film reveals, he is actually able to answer every single one of them because each one is connected to a very important event in his life. It's a simple film but it is very deep--and I think that that is what makes the movie spectacular.

I give this film two thumbs up! It was deep, simple, and a very great movie to watch. You also have to see the dance number at the end, it was so beautiful!

I am actually getting lss from the song, Jai Ho which is part of the soundtrack. The PCD did a great job with it. They made it modern and ultra cool. Check out the video here:

Just a trivia: Jai Ho actually means Hallelujah! :)

Cutie sighting

So okay, I know you'd probably kill me for liking him but girls, I really think John Patrick Amedori aka Aaron Rose of Gossip Girl is cute! He's been on the show for the past two weeks and I have to admit, he's getting cuter and cuter each day! Oh my, and when he smiles... *sigh*

I don't know about the entire look and idea of his character. If you've read the book, Aaron is supposed to be perfect! But no... sadly, his tv version is so much less cooler. Boo. Well, even if I don't really approve of his character, I still think JP Amedori is so cute and somehow, the things Aaron Rose does for Serena on the show makes JP so much more cuter in my eyes. hihi :P

Did you watch last week's episode? Gawd, when they kissed on Times Square on that tv billboard, I was absolutely taken by him! Ohmy, how sweet!

I think it's his whole mysterious vibe that I'm absolutely digging. I just don't like his goatie. Eww.

I'm also not a big fan of his clothes. I know artists dress a little weird but mahn, Aaron Rose is one of the worst dressers on the show! All his scarfs, plaid tops. Hmm.. I don't know but it just doesn't work for me.

*sigh* JP is so cute! I'm really glad they picked him for the show. He's such a darling when he acts all nerdy and weird :)

Fast facts:
Name: John Patrick Amedori
Birthdate: April 20, 1987
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Sightings: Stick It, Love is the Drug

Too bad he is already taken :( By who? Brie Larson. But I actually don't hate it that's he's with Brie. I like Brie. More so after hearing her reply when asked if she's ever jealous of Blake Lively kissing JP, "No, I'm not. I like to think I look like Serena so I imagine, it's me he's kissing". Hehe :) But I do admit, she does look a little like Serena

*sigh* Oh well, that doesn't stop me from liking JP. Hehe :) I can't wait for the next episode just so I can see him again! I just wished his character was better. I mean, what's with all the other girls?-- and why is he leaving soon? Oops! Spoiler alert! haha! shhhhh...

trivia: did you know that there is a REAL life Aaron Rose? He's an artist and curator, much like JP's character in Gossip Girl. Interesting, right?

*watch Gossip Girl on ETC, Tuesday 8pm

Have you tasted this? Melon nata yoghurt

I realize we've been posting a lot of "discoveries" lately so I'm starting a "have you tasted this?" blog line :)

This time we ask:
Have you tasted Nestle's Melon Nata Yoghurt?

I know, I know, it sounds weird. But since I've tasted Nata de coco flavored yoghurt in Thailand, I've grown a fondness for this flavor. Nata de coco yoghurt is also carried locally but it is only now that a new twist is given to this old favorite: Melon!

I can't really say this flavor is great without making a hasty generalization because I know that liking nata de coco in yoghurts is more of an acquired taste-- which I have acquired. hihi :P So I just say, try it and decide for yourself! Who knows, you might enjoy it as much as I do! :D

Healthy indulgence

So, NJ is quite a fan of the healthy (and more sour) version of yoghurt. I, on the other hand, was searching the market for a not-so-healthy (meaning not totally focused on putting fruits as the only available topping) and not-sour-at-all yoghurt shop.

Luckily, I found THE ONE. Golden Spoon. What do I love about this particular brand? Everything!
First, they offer a wide variety of flavors. From pistachio to chocolate caramel to strawberry to brownie (and believe me, they have a lot more flavors to choose from). Just with the yoghurt, you'll feel satisfied already. You don't have to worry especially since their flavors are either non-fat or low fat.

Second, they also offer a wide variety of toppings! From fruits to almonds to chocolate chips to marshmallows!! They also have syrups such as hot chocolate fudge and melted marshmallow cream. Ohhh, my mouth is watering by just remembering the shop. Haha!

I find it so adorable that they stick to their name. They actually do give you a gold colored plastic spoon with your order. (Hehe..yeah, how I wish they give out real gold spoons! ahahaha.)

How about you, have you tried Golden Spoon Yoghurt? :)

Restaurant review: Cafe Mediterranean

You all know how S and I love the taste of Middle East food. Something about all the spices and clean but full taste of it excites us!-- and admittedly, it's because of all the hummus :) hehe

So I was so excited when I found a quaint "cafe" offering Mediterranean food (slash our favorite kind of food!) Girls, say hello to Cafe Mediterranean!

Cafe Mediterranean boasts of authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The first time S and I saw this restaurant, we immediately thought it offered Greek cuisine and since for us, the best greek resto will always be Cyma, we didn't really bother checking out the place. But alas! We were so wrong!

The pita bread was crispy but soft at the same time. Yum, yum! The only downside: they serve only one piece. You have to have a separate order for more (which you probably should do because I'm sure you'll be craving for more stuff to dip in your hummus)

Aaaahh... the hummus :) One word: lalalalove! :P

Their pizza came as the biggest surprise. It was soooooo good! The crust was really crispy and very thin. The toppings were also very tasty! It was very authentic and for a meager price of less than 350php, I say it was so worth it! Overall, the things we ordered cost us less than 500php. Cheap huh?

I think one of the coolest things about the Cafe aside from from its good food of course, is that they offer semi-vegetarian food. It's so hard to come by vegetarian friendly restaurants that it's such a pleasant surprise to find one that you would actually enjoy :)

I was eye-ing more things in the menu which I've heard a lot of praise for so I'm recommending the following if you ever go there: white cheese pizza, kebab pizza, grilled chicken, and spicy pork tenderloin. (Me and my other friends went there and they swear by the great taste of the following, I trust them, hence my recommendation. hehe)

So for being vegetarian friendly, having good value for money and offering really tasty food, the Cafe Mediterranean gets 4 1/2 kisses from us :) ♥♥♥♥
