Right exercise for you!

I don't know about you girls but I have sadly fallen victim to that inevitable summer fat. Yes, yes, I gained another good 3 pounds. Boo me. Well, before classes start, I vowed to lose that extra slab of fat on my belly! Soooo... with only two weeks to go, what's a girl to do? Exercise.

Since I'm new to these crash exercises, I decided to research about it and found out that different body shapes actually have different exercises that work best for them! In order to know which exercise works for you, you have to know first which body shape category you fall in:

Hourglass - whoa girl, you're sexy! lol! Yes, yes, the hourglass figure is that which everyone tends to envy because they have really good proportions. But what I want to emphasize here is that you don't have to be thin to have this kind of body shape. Basically, hourglass figures have well proportioned upper and lower bodies and a distinctly small waist. Most of the time, hourglass figures can be seen on athletic girls. Your celeb sisters: blake lively, scarlett johanssen

Pear - I know a lot of people who has this kind of body shape. Pears have larger lower bodies. They tend to have big hips and thighs but small chests and flat stomachs. Your celeb sisters: jennifer love hewitt, jennifer lopez, beyonce knowles

Apple - This is the counterpart of Pears. Apples have larger upper bodies-- big chests, big stomachs but really thin hips and thighs. You celeb sisters: mariah carey, tyra banks

Ruler - This is a very rare body shape as rulers are often those people who are waif-like and slim. They even have really slender and thin bone structures and normally do not gain a lot of weight and if they do will be concentrated on their chests and bottoms. Your celeb sisters: the olsen twins, keira knightley

So now that you're classified yourself under a body shape category, let's go to the fun part, "which exercise works best for what?"

Hourglass- Hourglass figures tend to gain weight evenly so the best way to address it is to find exercises that helps you lose weight all over your body. You should best go for:
slow jogging, stationary biking, jumping jacks, swimming, bicep curls, shoulder presses, and squats. Again, the key here is to have balance. Find an exercise where your entire body gets to move.

Pear- Since you have a large lower body, you should focus on making that area smaller. Go for:
walking, cycling, elliptical training, jumping rope, leg lifts and dips, push ups, chin ups, and shoulder presses.

Apple- Contrary to other body types, the best exercise for apple-shapes are those that are focused on the smaller half of their bodies. So instead of looking for exercises to give you smaller chests and stomachs, you should find exercises that would make you have bigger buns, thighs and sexier calves. The idea here is to give you a more balanced look. I mean, hey, if you've got big boobs, how do you go about making that small? tsk! Well then, here are the exercises you should try: stairclimbing, walking on an incline, running, leg squats, leg presses, and deadlifts.

Ruler- Surprisingly, it is harder to lose weight when you're a ruler because you have to focus on every single muscle in your body. Since you're waif-like, you should build muscle mass evenly or risk looking like a boxer with big arm muscles. You have to constantly and routinely exercise all your body parts to have that even and sexy look. Try these exercises: stretching, sit-ups, step classes, spinningwalking or jogging on an incline, squats, bench presses and shoulder presses.

So there you go girls! Some exercises designed more specifically for each of our body needs. Goodluck with losing those summer fats! You can do it PK girl! Go, go, go!

One moment, one nescafe

I am a self-confessed coffeeholic. I particularly like my coffee served to me in cafes and coffee shops as I do not like the "fake" taste of instant coffee. If I cannot get myself coffee from Starbucks or Seattle's Best, I go for the next best thing: Freshly brewed coffee in the comfort of my own home. Yes, I like my coffee THAT good. However, I have been very busy lately and do not have time to brew my own blend or even drop by coffee shops (aside from my usual Friday night Starbucks date with my girls) so I had to make do with the one thing I used to hate drinking: INSTANT COFFEE.

So okay, there I was craving for some serious caffeine when I was handed Nescafe's line of "healthy coffee" by my mom. I've seen Nescafe's ads in Reader's Digest and admittedly was very curious about the taste plus I was in serious craving mode so I took some (even if all my angels were advising me against it). So how was it? I'll give you the low-down:

Nescafe Fit

Nescafe fit is for those on a diet. It has a sugar substitute and teavigo which is good for the body. It is decaffeineted too so it's good for non coffee drinkers out there.
Well, as expected, it tastes so much more bland than the usual instant coffee. You could hardly taste the coffee much more its sweetness! Still, I have to give it props for sticking to its goal of being a "diet" drink. And yeah, I guess also some stars for that unusual tea taste that's incorporated in the coffee. At least it made it taste less "instant" and a little more first class.

Nescafe Relax
True to its name, Nescafe Relax has Chamomile extracts which has been known to help the body relax. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted good (sweeter and stronger than Nescafe Fit) and the chamomile added to its overall appeal. Just imagine yourself drinking a less tasty version of Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha. Yes! It's minty, cool, and in many ways, very relaxing. I think what's really great about it is its aroma. The Chamomile gives it this really sweet scent that would really help you relax and entice you to drink more of the coffee. haha! So... I give a thumb up for this one (note: one thumb only as it's still bitter and somewhat mediocre)

Nescafe Protect
The last of the line of "healthy" coffee from Nescafe promises to be the ultimate coffee drink for those who want to stay in top shape as it contains 3x more antioxidants than Green Tea. However... (here it goes!) its taste was completely disappointing! It was too bitter but ironically didn't have a strong coffee flavor. It's like, you want to drink more so you'd taste the distinct flavor of coffee but all you savor is bitterness. Just when I thought coffee was supposed to be bittersweet! Where's the sweet part then?

Nescafe is trying to prove to the world that coffee is healthy. Yes, I know, there's nothing wrong with that because I'm a big coffee fan anyway. But then, I think what's disappointing about it is that they focused too much on the health-part of the beverages and totally forgot the taste part. So in the end, I say brewed coffee is so much more better than instant but I have to hand it to Nescafe for trying. What they're doing is good and they deserve kudos for that ;)

Be a guilt-free shopper!

I have always had a soft spot for the environment. Even if most of the time, I eat my words and actually do more harm to it, I have moments that I actually try to do my part to help preserve it. Well, if there's one thing I am very guilty of doing, it would be shopping. I mean, imagine all the trees that have to be cut to produce those paper bags, all the plastics you'd get which would end up in the trash, and all the unnecessary hooba doobas you'd get with every purchase! It's just ironic that you'd have to feel guilty for buying something when your purchases should in fact give you joy!

Well girls, we don't need to feel so guilty anymore! Introducing, the BAGGU bags! Baggu bags are environmentally friendly bags made of rip-stop nylon which can surprisingly hold up to 25lbs.! They can also be folded and placed in these adorable little pouches so you can bring them anywhere! The coolest thing about them? They come in super stylish colors!

I can totally imagine myself carrying one of those cute bags. I mean, it would sure as hell beat the sight of me with a tacky yellow green plastic bag from the grocery. haha!

So go on girls! Do your part! Reusable bags are becoming the fad in supermarkets and other department stores but instead of buying each kind for each store (co'z you can't use the reusable bag from healthy options when buying in shopwise, right?), why don't you just bring a BAGGU bag and save yourself the hassle (and money for that matter)! *wink!

Baggus are available in their website:

Car essentials

So, you recently graduated or you recently turned 18 and you got a car as a present. It's exciting to tour the cities on your own, right? Before you get too excited and zoom your way out of your garage, let me give you a run down of things that you have to have in your car.

First of all, have your car blessed. Better safe (and guided) than sorry, right?

When you have your car blessed, take the time to buy a (1.)ROSARY to put on your rear view mirror. It's nicer to know that you're being watched over as you travel, isn't it.
Next, bring weather-related essentials. A jacket and umbrella is necessary especially during the rainy months (which is up and coming!). If you feel chilly even after you've turned the a/c off, at least you're ready with a (2.)JACKET to keep you warm.

The (3.)UMBRELLA is very handy dandy when it's raining and you have to get out of your car.

It's also advisable to keep a pair of (4.)SLIPPERS in your car especially if you have a hard time driving in your heels. Third, bring the basics/ hygiene-related essentials. This includes a bottle of water, crackers, gum/candy, and a box of tissue. (5.)WATER would obviously keep you from getting dehydrated and (6.)CRACKERS would keep you from getting famished especially when it is traffic. (7.)GUM OR CANDY, on the other hand, would help you stay awake during the days you've woken up early (and slept late due to watching your fave TV series). (8.)A BOX OF TISSUE would help you wipe accidental little messes you make while eating and driving (or if you need to blow your nose or sneeze.teehee).

Finally, bring the "random" essentials.

I bring a (9.)CUSHION OR PILLOW because I need it when I drive. My car seat doesn't go as high as I need it to so I bring a pillow to sit on so I can see my car's hood better. Check if you need a pillow for the same matter, alright? If you do not, a pillow in your car is still alright because let's say you get to your destination early and you want to catch on some sleep, then voila, you have a pillow to use.

Next, try to buy a (10.)STEERING WHEEL LOCK. Those are usually found in hardware stores such as True Value or Handyman. It is quite important to have one for additional car security purposes. Don't forget to put the steering wheel lock's keys with your car keys, okay?

If you love listening to your ipod, ight as well save up on an (11.)IPOD JACK/CORD. They have affordable ones in cd-r king.

Lastly, stock up on (12.)COINS AND CHANGE. You need the coins for the parking boys' tip.

Now you are all set to take your sweet ride to wherever you please. Think we missed an essential? Feel free to add to our list ;)

Back! Pack!

♪backpack! backpack! back pack back pack! doot doodoot doot do-dora...♪

Okay, sorry sorry..enough of that.Hehe. It was either in Cruel Intentions or in a Freddie Prinze Jr. movie that I first saw a Jansport backpack. Although I don't remember the movie, I clearly remember the scene wherein they were in an elite private school's hallway. All the students were using a Jansport backpack. However, if you're a girl yours would be red and if you're boy your backpack would be blue.

When I was in High School, Jansport factories started churning colorful models. I used a big purple one then. Just recently, Jansport has been coming up with unique pop-art like designs. My personal favorites are these:

Not only are Jansport backpacks good for school stuff, it's also good for your camping/outing clothes. A word of caution, though girls... A Jansport bag isn't that cheap. One bag costs at least 2,500php. If you're attracted to its funky designs and comfy features then troop to The Travel Club, Bratpack or to the bags section of leading department stores such as Robinson's and Rustan's.

*The Travel Club is located at Alabang Town Center, Gateway Mall, Shangri-la Mall and SM Megamall.

Updates from Tinseltown

Time for our doze of Hollywood news! Leave it to the stars to keep us all entertained in the REEL and REAL world. So what's new in Tinseltown? Drama, drama, drama!

Scoop #1: Miley Cyrus is not so "innocent" after-all! Miley's recent pictures at Vanity Fair has got Hollywood buzzing! Is our favorite teen diva joining the Paris Hilton bandwagon? Oh please no!

Honestly though, I do not know how to react to these photos. Yes, they're surprising for a 15-year old (hey, imagine your highschool classmate posing like that!) but then we have to understand that pictures are just pictures and in fairness to her, the artistic photos are taken beautifully! I am a bit apprehensive though about the one with her father because it looks like she's her father's girlfriend or something. It doesn't look very "father-daughter" to me.

Well, this actually is not the first time that Miley got into a scandal because of her pictures. Remember last year when pictures of Miley and her friend with their lips almost touching shocked all of Hollywood?

Well, I won't comment on this one. I say, girls, it's up to you to decide.

Scoop #2: Sad news for Pete lovers out there but our favorite guitarist is finally tying the knot with girlfriend Ashley Simpson! *gasp!* There are news floating around that the reason the two is getting married is because Ms. Simpson is carrying Pete's baby! Well, Ashley hasn't confirmed nor denied any of the rumors but one thing she's definitely confirming is her engagement with Pete.

Well here's to their wedding next month! And oh by the way, they have recently won as one of the sexiest couples in People magazine! They really do make a hot couple, don't they? (*sobs* goodbye Pete! goodbye!)

Scoop #3: Is Lindsay Lohan having a lesbo relationship?? Hollywood is left dumb-founded with the news that it girl Lindsay Lohan may be having a lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson. The two has been spending an awfully lot of time together which makes the media suspicious. Of course Lindsay's side denies the rumors saying that the Ronson's are good friends with the Lohans and that Samantha and Lindsay are nothing but the best of friends.

So that's it for your doze of Hollywood drama! Tinseltown is getting busy again with all the intrigues. But don't worry, we'll keep you updated. Afterall, we take our genes from the queen of all intrigues, gossip girl herself. lol!

xoxo,
you know you love us...

Weee! for Nintendo Wii

Yeowch. My body aches a bit but I don't mind. This could mean that when I worked up a sweat yesterday, I was actually on the road to a fitter body. You're probably wondering what I did yesterday...nothing much, really..I just stayed home. It's just that I played my butt off the whole afternoon with our recent purchase, a Nintendo Wii!

I had so much fun creating Miis (character player versions of yourself), playing Wii Sports (such as tennis, bowling, boxing, golf and baseball), and watching my parents and siblings battle! haha. Not only is a Nintendo Wii a game console, it's also an exercise machine. You'd really have to move to be able to control your Mii.

I also tried playing Guitar Hero, and oh boy, did I put my guitar fingers and skills to the test!
Of course there's no substitute for the real thing (such as playing in golf clubs or tennis courts and interacting with real people) but if you are really pressed for time and you can't go out of your homes, then just turn your Wii on! :)
