Manila Dreams: the Katy Perry experience

I've always been a believer in the saying "work/study hard, party harder" so to cap off an extremely exhausting week in the office, I jumped at the opportunity to go with my friends watch Katy Perry in concert.
I like Katy Perry. I may not be the biggest fan but I like the girl. She's a great singer and I just love how she represents the fun and flirty crowd. She represents the girly girls and it always amazes me, how, she could turn angst/depression into upbeat songs (think: hot n' cold and the one that got away).

Honestly, I was not prepared for the concert. It was another of those impromptu things for me so I didn't even have time to do any kind of 'research'. I was even a bit stressed out that day because I also had to study for my prelims this week (I'm also enrolled in grad school). Good thing my friends, who are bit older than me knew how to "party" so we dropped by TGIF for mojitos and shots before the concert.
I don't drink. I like the occasional cocktails but alcohol is something I can totally live without. For Katy's concert though, I appreciated how alcohol elevated the feeling of excitement. My equation for the night was: mojitos + tequila shots = one hellavu great concert!
We were all in a great mood and was ready to party that when the dj came out and played some songs, we started dancing. The dj stayed for around 30 minutes and when he left, everyone was getting ready to meet Katy. But 30 minutes passed, then an hour, then one and a half-hour, then two hours went by and still no Katy!

I was really agitated that time, I was ready to start a revolution! People were already boo-ing (partly because of me), and wanted to leave.

It wasn't until around 10:30 that Katy finally came out. We were already tired and the excitement has dissipated but because it was still Katy Perry, we tried to make the most of what was left of the night.
Katy is so pretty! And she sings amazing, live! It's like listening to a recording. Yup, she is THAT good!
One of the highlights of the night was when she asked a boy to take his top off and come up to the stage. Well, that lucky boy (out of the crowd) was Ivan Dorschner (of PBB, remember?)
He's so buff now! I remember him being so skinny! Boy was super lucky, he got a kiss from Katy AND got to give Katy a kiss too!

All of Katy's production numbers were just WOW. I have nothing bad to say about her performance because she was, truly AMAZING. I'm just a bit disappointed that she didn't engage the crowd too much. She wasn't very chatty, like she, too, just wanted the show to be over. It was a good show, but I say, it could have been better.

Still, thank you Katy for coming to Manila!

Oh yes, dreams do come true in Manila :)

  1. Aaaaw, sayang. When we met her at MOA, she was very chatty to everyone. Yeah, maybe she wanted to get it over and done. Still glad that she didn't disappoint.
