Right now, right here

The past few days, I've been repeating an advice a colleague once shared: commit yourself to right now. This line came when he was recalling what he was doing at age 21. He looked back and realized how amazing it was that at that time he found himself in his first job in no less than Spain. Yes, he is definitely one of the lucky ones!

But you know, with the amazing experiences he had in his life, he only had one thing to share. It was that at ALL times, whatever you're doing, whether you like it or you like it a lot, you have to fully commit yourself to it. This is your now and when we're all grey and old, it would be sad to reminisce and regret not making the most out of your life.

I used to think that there is a transition period--you know, the time when you just float around waiting for opportunities while trying to figure out what to do with your life. But I realized, there is no transition period. This is it. This is all of it. You have to trust that where you are right now is exactly where you're supposed to be.
I like that. I like being assured that even if things aren't going right at the moment, these daunting things are actually meant to happen. And that I have to fully commit myself to them. Same goes with emotions. If I feel happy, I have to commit to being happy. I should smile. If I feel sad, I should commit to sadness and allow myself to cry.

I am grateful I had that chat with my colleague. A year has passed since I had that talk with him but it's only now that I understand what he meant by it. So thank you Sir for sharing that amazing piece of advice.
To all our dear readers who keep coming back to read our blog, thank you very much. This blog is one of my commitments. I figure it's in my destiny to be a blogger--to have a blog and write about the things I am writing about right now. Yes, I'm committing to being a blogger and embracing all that comes with it :)
