Wooden spoons are for ice cream only

I love White Hat. Of all frozen yoghurt places I've tried, White Hat is my favorite. Their yoghurt recipe just appeals to my palate, I can't get enough of it. I was at White Hat the other day and I almost forgot why I stopped going there for a couple of weeks when I suddenly remembered: it's because of their wooden spoons.

Recently, White Hat came out with wooden spoons for their yoghurt. I think it's because of the whole sustainable thing which is the hype nowadays. But the day they introduced their wooden spoons, was the day I started to want less of their yoghurt.

The spoons are cute, and yes, it's great that they're doing their part for the environment but I dunno... the sour taste of yoghurt mixed with the "woody" taste of the spoon just doesn't go well with me. The tangy taste of the yoghurt and the rough surface of the spoon irritates my tongue. I don't want it to touch my lips, much more lick it! It's just so unpleasant.
My solution is to ask for a plastic spoon just so I could eat it
Maybe it's just me but I just have to say it co'z I love White Hat and I don't want their spoons keeping me from going back.

I think using wooden spoons should be confined to ice cream ONLY. The smoothness and creaminess of ice cream and its quaint taste weirdly goes well with the earthy taste of wooden spoons. If you're NOT selling ice cream, please, don't even consider going the wooden route. Just saying.

Spinderella

As spontaneous as the time I decided to perm my hair, I again, semi-spontaneously got it rebonded. Ha! Talk about extremely fickle-minded! In my defense, it's not really about liking my curls or not. They were pretty and all that, except I didn't feel like myself. The curls created a whole new Ninin. I felt like my curls compelled me to be dainty, sweet, and cute all the time-- but I'm not naturally like that. I'm more of the rockstar kind of girl, and with the curls, I just couldn't pull it off.
It's so weird, but I really did feel sad about it-- about losing that part of my personality; of feeling tied down. I know it's just hair, but see, I'm a firm believer of always doing what feels right to you. As I always say, "If it's bringing you that much pain, it's not worth it". My curls were starting to make me feel sad and even if everyone around me was against getting my hair straightened, I had to choose my own happiness-- and I knew I would be happier with straight hair.
I admit, I am somewhat missing my curls. My pictures from last week is a painful reminder of how pretty they were, but frankly, I just want to move on from that phase, like it was just a beautiful dream. That for a time I was Cinderella and now the clock has signaled midnight.
I am obviously hung up on these shoes. They are getting so much mileage on the blog-- it's just that they are so comfortable and I guess I'm still not over the red, blue, white phase of mine. Sahreee.

Havaianas Filipinas 2011

It's been a while since we last featured my favorite flip flops. I constantly wore Havs back in college but when I started working, I had to force my feet into work-appropriate foot wear. It's quite sad that the only time I get to wear Havs is in the mornings and afternoons, when I drive. I know, I know, using slippers for driving is a no-no.

Okay, enough with my rambling... the reason why we're featuring Havaianas on our blog once again is because of their Filipinas 2011 collection! But before we share with you the new collection, we would like to invite you to backtrack with us a little..

The Havaianas Filipinas collection started in 2006 but I only found pictures of their 2009 and 2010 collections (source: mr. google):
Havaianas Filipinas 2009
Havaianas Filipinas 2010
As you can see, Havaianas has been supporting trendy Filipinos in taking pride of their nationality by showcasing the country's rich and colorful culture and incorporating it in the designs. This year, Havaianas chose to play with the colors of the Philippine flag and the 3 island groups.
Utilizing the graffiti technique gives it an edgier look, don't you think? :) Also, notice that the strap carries a unique rendition of the Philippine flag engraved with “Pinas” next to the Havaianas logo. So cool!

Well ladies and gents, what are you waiting for? Head to any of the following: All Flip-Flops, Celio, Complex, Duty Free Philippines Fiesta Mall, Gas, KidSports, Manila Polo Club, Moana, ROX, Rustan's, Stoked, Tick Tock Flip Flop NAIA Terminal 3, or Urban Athletics for your own pair of the 2011 Havaianas Filipinas!

Organically tasteless

On a random grocery trip in Shopwise Commonwealth, I found myself getting excited over a freezer full of microwavable vegetarian meals! Most of the items in the freezer were from Amy's. I was so excited to see the wide array of products they had: pasta, pizza, burgers and even burritos and enchiladas!

In my excitement I almost hoarded everything-- well, actually I did at first. Except I saw the price on each and I had to return most of the items. Lol! :) I did however get a couple of stuff to try, one of which is the Broccoli & Cheese Pocket Sandwich.
This one costs 199.00php and contains one sandwich pocket
The instructions on the box was very easy: take it out, pop it in microwave for 2-3 minutes. That's it!
The 3 minutes felt like eternity! I was so excited to try it! I love broccoli-- add to that some really good cheese and what do you have? A meal that could send me to food heaven! Nom nom nom!

Tick-tock-tick-tock and thennnnn BEEP! It's done!
Here you have it! Ta-dah!--err--? What is that?
It doesn't even look half as pretty as the picture on the box! :( Still, still, the true verdict is in the taste! So how was the first bite? Total blah.

I'm so sad :( I really thought I found my best-est microwable buddy in Amy but alas! Our tastes differ by a mile. I didn't like it at all :(

"Instant" vegetarian meals constantly fail me but I'm not losing hope! I'm sure one of these days, I'd chance upon a freezer full of really good microwavable vegetarian options--until then, I'd have to be more creative in preparing my meals each day. *sigh

Stylebreak's new collection!

I can't be more excited to find out about Stylebreak's new collection! Stylebreak is one of my favorite online brands because they always come up with the most interesting pieces.
Just when everyone is else is jumping in the bandwagon, Stylebreak goes on an entirely different route which then ends up the trend. And that my friends, is what you call trendsetting!
As always, their new collection Lines and Drapes has only a few key pieces-- but that's the appeal of it! That's how you create a more vivid and memorable image for your audience. Like this draped peach skirt for example, which I am incredibly lusting over and which I know will be stuck in my head for days.
Enough blabber, time to start shopping!
