Tea for Meeee!

Flavored drinks are my thing. I like shakes, coffee, teas, anything that is flavored over plain old water! I'm not a big fan though of Green Tea in a bottle (e.g. C2) co'z I think they taste too "commercial" but I'm starting to change my mind when I got my first sip of Real Leaf Green Tea!

One word: AMAZING.

I like the Green Tea with Lemon best co'z it's so refreshing and true to the original taste of tea. It's also very light and not too sweet which I always prefer in everything I take in. I've been drinkng this nonstop for weeks now and I'm still not over how good it tastes!

Seriously, you should try this girls!

Tuba goes International!

In a "socializing" event we had for work, we invited a local importer to provide drinks. At first we were joking around because it was called "VUQO" and it was apparently a high-class form of Tuba (y'know, the wine derived from coconut?). But after two glasses of this stuff, I say good job Philippines! Yu-hum!!!

VUQO is the first and only coconut-based vodka. It has 40% alcohol, and has gone through multiple distillation and filtration. You can drink it straight up or mixed in a cocktail. The girl at the counter let me try one with lychee and a cranberry-dalandan mix. My gosh were they incredible!

If I wasn't one who gets drunk easily, I could have downed down more glasses but because I'm just a social drinker, I was tipsy after that second glass. lol!

These babies are imported to the international market for $6 dollars each. Locally, you can get hold of these at the bar on top of Manila Ocean Park. Apart from that, you can't get these babies anywhere else, unless you contact them directly. I am so glad we invited them to our event!

I have my money on these! I'm excited to see them take the liquor world by storm!

Orange in your coffee

I never really liked Orange mixed with Chocolate or anything creamy. The combination just doesn't work for me so when I saw Starbucks offering their newest coffee flavor, it took me forever to try it.

I asked "Ate" barista which one she recommends and she says she likes the White Orange Mocha more than the latte so her advice I took:

Just as I expected! Ewwie. So okay, I may be biased on this. But the taste just really reminds me of those orange flavored choco cream biscuits I used to have in preparatory school. If I remember right, it was Rebisco Chokies(?) Ugh. I hated those back then, and apparently, I still hate that combination to this day. Seriously. Eww.

What do you girls think about this drink?

Movie Review: Hachiko

I love dogs! I have a soft spot for doggies, it doesn't even matter what they look like or where they come from. I'm one of those people who has a tendency to pick up stray dogs from the street (almost did so once, if only I wasn't on my way to school then). So when I heard about a movie about a dog, the appeal was too great for me to resist: I had to see it!

Hachiko is a true story about a dog who accompanies his master to the train station everyday and returns every afternoon to greet him after work. Sadly, his master passed away one day and never returned to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot everyday for years waiting for his beloved master to come home.

Altogether now: AWWWWW.... :( :( :(

Seriously, the synopsis is just as good as the film itself. It's so terribly heartbreaking but heartwarming as well. This is one of those movies you'd be glad you saw. It's simple but truly inspirational. It's such a nice break from all those conflict-ridden hardcore flicks. This one's simple and light which makes it plain beautiful.

Because fruits are fun!

I found myself taking a roadtrip to Pangasinan on Valentine's weekend and while traveling, we chanced upon the cutest and most bizarre Watermelons I have ever seen!

Yes! They're yellow! *gasp! Apparently, they're a Taiwanese import of some sort produced locally in Tarlac. They taste the same as the green ones, less sweeter actually, save for its unique appearance, it's actually a total rip-off! @_@

It would have been so much cooler if the insides were yellow too but sadly they haven't been genetically modified that way--yet. So for now, we have to settle for the Green Watermelons with Yellow insides:
Same thing, not too spectacular save for the color. The great thing about this though is that it's seedless! So hooray for lazy fruit eaters like me! lol!

If ever you're traveling to the North, try to keep your eyes open for these cuties in Tarlac. You won't miss them, they're too much of an attention-grabber! :)

Bathroom QUEEN?

This one has got me laughing in the inside:

Oops! Sorry, placed the watermark right on the Label. Hahaha! It reads: Handy Spray TOILET SEAT SANITIZER

Are you laughing now? Well, even if I find it a lil' bit ridiculous, I shamelessly bought this little baby and took it for a test drive. So how was it? Err, aside from the fact that I had a "Paris Hilton" moment in the bathroom spraying left and right, I don't really think it did any good... or harm. I really wouldn't know. It's not like I actually saw the bacteria scampering away or something. But it did make the room smell "fresher" what with its lemony fresh scent. Err... does that count?

I am lost for words on what to say about this. I mean, when do you ever sit on public toilets anyway? And if I spray this, would it actually remove the dirt? Nyahay. But then maybe, it's too early to tell. One of these days, I might find myself in a ridiculously dirty washroom and this little baby might hypothetically "save my life". Who knows? Right?

Movie Review: Invictus

I remember the first poem I volunteered to read in front of people was by William Ernest Henley. I was enrolled in Speechpower then and our mentor asked who wanted to read the poem Invictus. It was a no brainer for me then. I thought that poem represented me in so many ways and I wanted to be the one to read it out loud on one of our class "performances". I remember that day so well... much like I remember that beautiful poem.

...I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

When I heard about the movie Invictus, I immediately wanted to watch it. The title was calling out to me, I didn't even bother asking what the movie was about. To make it short, I got hold of the film and watched it over the weekend.

The plot is simple: It was the story of the South African World Cup win back in '95. It tells of how their President, Nelson Mandela inspired the African team. I guess you can say, it is a historic-slash-political flick. But to be truly honest, I think it's much more than that. Indeed it is rich in history and full of fascinating facts but it was also filled with heart and was incredibly heart-warming.

The integration of the poem by Henley also added to the whimsical appeal of the film. I feel so much more attached to the poem now more than ever because I saw its very essence come to life in the movie. The poem was interpreted so beautifully and the story told masterfully that the entire film makes me feel happy. I mean, often literary pieces that turns into movies gets lost in translation but this one's an exception. Believe me when I say it was incredible.

Morgan Freeman also did a fabulous job as Nelson Mandela. He was so believable! Matt Damon was equally amazing too! This is the first time I saw him with new eyes. He was so fresh and natural in the film that he looked like he was just a budding actor. He wasn't overacting and he was so believable! Those boys deserve acting awards for this film I'm telling you!

The soundtrack was equally amazing too! The songs they picked were so appropriate and moving! I am actually now in the process of downloading the tracks. lol! :) This film definitely is a keeper. It's one of those flicks that converts you. In this case, it has convinced me that the person I should be voting for this election is Nelson Mandela. Kidding! But someone like him would really be great for our country! Watch the film and I'm sure you'll agree :)

Invictus opens in Manila on February 17 so you all know where you should be on that date okay? :)

Orange you glad you sanitized?

The first time I saw someone put alcohol in a spray bottle, I found it really amusing. I thought it was a funky idea co'z it made it a little bit more "posh". Well, apparently I wasn't the only one amused by it co'z on my next trip to the grocery, I found spray bottles of alcohol! (sorry can't remember the brand) ...but that's not what I am so excited to tell you about! I'm here to share with you the funkiest hand sanitizer spray I found in a recent "mini mart" trip:

Ta-dah! Introducing, MWAH! Hand Sanitizer spray in Orange Juice scent! I'm telling you, when I saw this little baby, my eyes grew wide in glee! I was so excited! Well, well, well, this baby didn't disappoint! It smells soooooo good! It doesn't kid when it says it has orange juice scent. It really does smell like orange juice!

I am so in love with it, especially since I like the smell of oranges and this one takes me back to my elementary days sipping Zesto Orange. lol!

I showed my cousin this the moment I got it and she says there are other variants. She claims her classmate uses one in Melon scent. Oooooh! I would love to get a hold of that too! SRSLY, I think I've found my perfect disinfecting tool right here! woot, woot! :)
