When life gives you lemons...don't make lemonade! Make lemon water.

Yeah, you read that right. Make lemon water instead. My sister and I gave in to our curiosity and decided to transform our drinking water at home to lemon water.  Coincidentally, I came across one online article that discussed the benefits of putting lemon in your water.  Lemon and water have several similarities such as it helps clean your insides by flushing out the toxins in your system and both have an alkalizing effect. Now, can you imagine the positive effects of combining lemon + water? If you still can't, we've listed what lemon water is good for.

1. Skin
When you get rid of toxic waste in your system, your skin will show it first! Your skin will be the first thing you notice cause it looks clear and not sallow and full of acne.

2. Stomach
When mixed with hot water, it helps the stomach by relieving the telltale signs of indigestion. Regular intake of lemon water can help constipated girls to go potty more efficiently.

3. Throat
Because of its anti-bacterial property, it aids in curing your throat infections and even some dental problems such as that sudden toothache.

4. High Blood Pressure
Its high potassium content works wonders for those with heart problems. It reduces mental stress and depression and it also helps relieve that dizzy, nauseous feeling that is possibly due to high blood pressure.
5.Weight loss
If you drink a cup of lemon water then you have a great fat burner but if you combine it with a healthy diet and 30 minutes of exercise it can have amazing results.

Reminder: Drink lemon water NOT lemonade. Lemonade usually contains lots of sugar and would defeat the purpose of detoxifying you.

According to what I read online, any citrus fruit would do but your best bet would be lemons and grapefruits. :)

Black chic

Black sheep chic.

Since the week has been harsh on me (again), I gravitated to blacks. I felt rather lazy to dress up so I slipped on my harem jumpsuit from two years back, put on my brown sandals, grabbed my bag and was off to go!
I love wearing jumpsuits because it's just one-piece and you don't have to bother thinking of what to wear with it. It's the perfect thing for lazy days when you don't have enough energy to think of what to pair with what.

Flights of fancy...

Life seems so colorless to me lately. To get myself out of a slump, I scoured for colorful pictures which (luckily) helped to remind me how wonderfully vibrant life can be..

My love for made-up dining tables seem to stem from my OC-ness. Yes, I'm just a tad OC.  Anyway,  seeing wonderful table settings make me feel that the host really exerted effort to prepare for our meal. Scroll down to see everyday, casual, and formal home-dining table settings.

P.S. I'm very sorry, forgot to keep track of the photo sources except for two.. The 5th picture is a table setting by Jenni Epperson while the 7th picture is by Judy Aldridge.

I hope the images inspire you as well. A happy Thursday to all of us!:)

Picnic season

Been wanting to go on a picnic since January kicked in but because I can't seem to find the perfect place (and opportunity) to do so, I decided to just wear a "picnic" inspired outfit instead.

I don't normally wear something so "American" like this but since I'm weird like that, I decided to just go try and see how the suburban housewife theme would look on me.
The dress is actually a bit big on me but since it has a ribbon, I just cinched the waist and pulled the skirt short. Just don't make me raise my arms co'z the armhole is a bit too big, you could actually see the side of my bra (haha, oversharing?)
My favorite thing from this ensemble would have to be the flower bracelet. I got it last year from the Kid's section of SM and I've been in love with it ever since! Kid's accessories are always so interesting!

And so we shall dance!

It took me a while to finish this book. Not because it wasn't interesting, but more of because I didn't want it to end.

I don't even want to attempt describing how beautiful it is. It is simply surreal. I've always known I love magical realism but I've never known this kind of pull before.

"So what do I have to do?"
"Dance. You gotta dance. As long as the music plays. You gotta dance. Don't even think why."
Dance. Dance. Dance.

Oh Murakami, I'm in love!

Harder, darker, stronger

The past week has been extremely tiring for me. I was literally going through the motions without paying heed to any of the consequences. It feels like a blur to me, but for more reasons than one, I am just super glad that the week is over.

Whenever I feel too lazy to dress up, I gravitate to my usual picks: mini skirts, sleeveless tops and blacks. Yes, the darker, the better. Somehow, black always makes me feel more myself and I always feel happy in that color.
It's perfect too because the sun has been shining so brightly. It's actually very hot. Really, the weather has turned loony.

Sorry for my "serious" expressions. I have just been extremely tired that smiling doesn't feel natural. (eh?) haha. I'm so weird.

The Power of White Perfect

I've been meaning to blog about this for a while now but for some reason, I always felt too shy. Then, I realized I really shouldn't feel shy about it because good things should be shared with the world! So, let me just go and be straightforward about it: "Thank you L'oreal for my nearly perfect complexion!"

Remember when L'oreal sent us press kits and products last year? (click to read the post here) Well, I've been using the day cream since then and I can really see and feel the results!

I can't really show a before and after picture because there's hardly any difference with the way my skin looks on camera, but it does feel smoother and softer! I also noticed it minimized my pores and gave me a nice pinkish white glow.

I know my skin isn't perfect but I'm working on it and after being introduced to L'oreal, I think I'm well on my way to achieving baby soft skin. Thanks so much Mikki for the freebies! I've never felt so satisfied with my complexion until now. Yey for L'oreal!

Promise, no foundation, no photoshop. Just good 'ol powder and L'oreal :) And oh, please don't mind the eyebags, I have yet to find the perfect product for that. haha!

Jungle Green and Blue Moon Swamp

Since it's still super cold in the office, I wanted to wear something with long sleeves. I guess I was subconsciously yearning for warm weather because my outfit turned out looking safari-inspired.

The shirt was too big for me, but I followed a time-tested, fool-proof solution...cinch the waist with a belt! I also like to loop the belt, that way it won't be a bother while I work.

Chocolate Monster

Somebody got too excited to eat the chocolate...

Saw the box in the fridge. I was trying to avoid it, trying not to look at it but it was calling me! That's when I absentmindedly grabbed it and tore the wrappers.

Gloomy Beach Weather

Went to the beach for the weekend. Ironically, the wind was strong and chilly and Mr. Sun hid the whole day. I was quite cold but I couldn't pass up the chance to have my picture taken.

Turning Chinese

So sorry for the lack of updates. I, for one have been extremely busy with work and classes. Yes, you read that right, classes.

I was somehow forced to take language classes and I so opted for Mandarin. Ohehmgee, I didn't know it was that hard! I already have background in French and Spanish so I thought a new language would be great but boy was I in for a surprise! Mandarin is so challenging!!!

I am still stressing a bit about my classes, in fact as I'm typing this, I have our language book on my lap, trying to review for our oral exams. I get OC over this because I've always been good at foreign languages and now that I've met a language that drains the "smart" from me, I panic. haha :P

Anyway, just dropped by to keep you all up to date :)

This is my creative picture in college. Didn't know then that I would eventually "turn" Chinese

The truth about Starbucks Via

Since the holiday season kicked in, I found myself drinking more instant coffee than usual. I don't really appreciate instant coffee co'z I think it just doesn't compare to brewed. However, our brewed coffee in the office is a little too strong for my taste and after months of bearing with it, I just couldn't anymore and so I decided to give Starbucks Via a try.

We have Starbucks brewed coffee at home and it is just divine! It tastes really good and the aroma is amazing. I wanted to recreate that experience with something a little more instant, hence, the Starbucks Via.

I tried the Colombia first just because it's orange and orange is my favorite color (haha). I was very excited to open my first sachet because I wanted my office space to smell like Starbucks! But to my disappointment, it wasn't as aromatic as I expected it to be :( Apart from that, the coffee was very strong! Even stronger than our office's brewed Cafe Puro. I almost did not want to finish it except the price tag on each sachet was tugging on my sleeves. (costs around 40php each!)

I almost didn't want to try the other variant anymore because my first experience was a disaster! But for the sake of this post (and my wallet!), I decided to go for it!

Maybe because it's decaf, but I think the Italian Roast tastes so much better! Even though it says extra bold, it didn't come off too strong. It was just right :) It still did not have the aroma I was excited for but I say it's okay. Good for those days that you want something different.

Overall, I think I have to pass with the instant coffee. It just doesn't compare... even if it was made by Starbucks.

Get Uncommon for your iPhone

I'm a wary customer when it comes to ordering items online. However, when I read about a certain brand of iPhone protectors which are only available online, I did not hesitate. I'm waiting for my iPhone case to arrive and hopefully it looks just like this:

Uncommon uses the latest technology of 3D Tatt Printing, a printing process which embeds your image deep into the case so it won't fade, peel or chip, and lets you customize your own case. They have 4 different options for the type of protector, Capsule, Deflector, Gallery and Loop.

They also have numerous options for the protector's artwork. Most of which were designed by guest artists. What's even greater about Uncommon is that they let you upload your own design, configure it onto the protector and they'll print it for and send it to you!

I chose the Capsule protector for ultimate protection.

Although it is much more expensive (at $39.95 + shipping fee) than the available bumpers/ protectors/ cases offered in iStudio (around $30-$35), I still don't regret ordering one mainly because my iPhone protector would be one-of-a-kind indeed!

Wanna get your own iPhone or iTouch protector? Check out their site by clicking>> GetUncommon!
