Revisting Jack's Loft

It's been a while since I last ate at Jack's Loft that revisiting it feels like walking down memory lane.

Let's start with the stuff I usually get:

Here's their trademark Fish bowl iced tea which I absolutely love! I think they use raspberry tea co'z it tastes like it. Plus! It's so big! Some get this for sharing but honestly, I can finish one bowl by myself. lol!
Next is "I Declair", a HUGE eclair with vanilla ice cream filling and choco-caramel syrup on top. The whole eclair is covered with cream which makes for a super sinful dessert!

To be honest, I don't love LOVE this but since I'm used to getting this everytime I drop by Jack's loft, I got it for old time's sake. Don't get me wrong, it IS good but maybe TOO good. Blah! don't mind me, just try it for yourself, k?

Here's the cheesecake that *supposedly made them famous. It's uh... cheesecake-y. Lol! I think I'm biased on this one because I'm a die hard Secret Recipes girl so to me, no other cheesecake compares.
And voila! Here's my ultimate favorite! Vegetarian lasagna! Heaven!!! Promise, it is sooooo good even non-vegetarians would love it!
Here are Jack's fries. Nothing special, except instead of catsup, they give gravy instead.

...uhm? Something something with grilled chicken. Super tasty too! It has mushrooms and sour cream which makes for a very, very savory dish!
Baked Potato soup... one word: yum!
Oooh la la! Another of my favorites!!! Seriously, it's the first time I enjoyed eating garlic mushrooms. I don't usually enjoy ordering this because there's never any variation to the taste. It's too simple! But this one from Jack's loft is soooooo good! You HAVE to taste it!

I'm really glad we decided to drop by Jack's Loft. I realized I missed the food and it reminded me why I enjoyed eating there as a student. The food is love! It also helps that I'm always in good company which makes for the perfect dining experience :)

Chatbox

You might be wondering where the cbox went. Well, decided to delete it because it's starting to be flooded by ads with no relation whatsoever to PK. The comment portion is still here so you can leave us a message there. We still love hearing from you!

Share my outfit day: Fly swans fly!

Forgot to add this to the Cats post, but here's what I wore to see Cats:

I had to go straight from work so I the easiest thing for me is to change into a skirt to make it a little more suitable for watching Cats. Changed from boring pants into this Revenge Fork skirt. Amazing how one piece of clothing changes your entire look! I love this skirt a lot! It's very comfortable and incredibly unique! Too bad the brand doesn't make it anymore. But then, when there's demand, supply follows so if you like it as much as I do and want to see more, leave a comment, I'll forward it to the seller and maybe we can make her sell more again. *wink!

Cats: Now and Forever

*sings!* Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days,
I was beautiful then

*throws hands in the air, spins gracefully*

Yesternight was one of the most whimsical nights I have ever had, and I owe it to the Cats :)

Saw the dress rehearsal for Cats yesterday along with other invitees at the CCP. I have always loved musicals and Cats reminded me why I enjoy them so much.

I came to the event totally not knowing what the story was all about. Didn't bother buying a program because they sell it for 500php which I think is pretty ridiculous for something so thin. But when the lights dimmed and the music played, I knew then and there that I would love it!

The entire production is just unbelievable! The set and props were amazing, the music was spot on and the performers were incredibly good! The production was so whimsical, I felt my youth again and I regretted not having seen it when I was a kid. If I did, then maybe I wouldn't have disliked cats that much. (lol!)

The performers were really good, I find myself calling them cats, because that's what they've become to me-- real life, humongous felines! That's how good they were! It's just a little disappointing to see that Lea Salonga didn't have much participation, given that she can't really dance as well as the cats. But for the parts that she did perform in, Lea was of course, ah-mazing! Her rendition of Memory was UNBELIEVABLE!

I like it too that the Cats interacted with the audience even if at times I felt scared of them co'z they were really big! (They were foreigners so most were bordering on 6 feet tall) But they looked so cute and moved so gracefully (so like real cats!) that you'd find them irresistible!

I am so glad I pushed myself to see Cats even if I was already dead beat yesterday. It's one of those musicals I won't ever forget-- like Miss Saigon. I find myself thinking about Cinderella (musical too with Lea Salonga three years ago), and I can't remember a thing. Haha! So this is what Simon Cowell means by having performances which are "forgettable". But that definitely didn't, and won't happen with Cats! It's the kind of production that will stick with you until you're gray and old.

I am still floating in fantasy. The surreal feeling has not yet disappeared. I just feel the immense desire to see it again!--and again!--and again! hahaha! :P

Cats, see you (again) on the 27th!

Freeway Jose Garcia Villa Collection

Hooray for Freeway National Artists Collection Series! Now I have something more to pine over!

S and I didn't get to go to the formal launch of the collection but Ms. Mira of Elite Garments was nice enough to send us Press Kits instead. I am really excited about this collection especially since I, myself write poetry and Villa's works (or Doveglion as others know him by) reminds me why I enjoy literature so much!

Check out some pieces from the collection:

When I dropped by Freeway to get my Press Kit, I saw they had the 'Villa' bracelet which reads, "Una, ang tula ay dapat maging mahiwaga" and it was love at first sight!

It was like the perfect accessory for a lit fan like me. Weeeh! I wanna buy a lot just to give out to my 'panitikan' friends. lol!

Thanks Ms. Mira for the Press Kit! Thanks Freeway for featuring Jose Villa! I cannot wait for the next in the series! Someone from Music or Film perhaps? *wink!

Chino pants: Yay or Nay?

I think I went a little crazy earlier and went on a 'mini-shopping spree'. One of the things I purchased was a pair of gray Esprit Boycut Chino pants. To give you an idea of how it looks like, the descriptions written on its tag are: loose rise and extra comfortable fit. I have to say that they're true to their word, it REALLY REALLY IS COMFORTABLE.

Well anyway, I can't sleep yet coz I'm obsessing on how to wear it to work. I searched for pictures and found that almost all of the chinos are 1. slim fit (mine is quite LOOSE!!) 2. usually rolled up (=looks too casual for work) and 3. usually falls somewhere between the calf and ankle (mine almost covers my ankle). I guess I'm just worried about it making me look short, stubby or silly. Hehe. I can't let it go though, because I also like how comfy it feels. Haha.

Sigh..I'm really bothered about making my rather expensive purchase work for work. Ahehe. Anyhow, I'll try to go to sleep now.. will keep you posted once I figure out a way (or ways, wish me luck! hehe) to wear my Chinos. :)

If you wanna help me..feel free to suggest on how to wear the style. The pants look something like this:
Too bad my chinos are a wee bit longer than that and mine's in gray. Rar.

Manels sent this via mail and since I'm in a hurry and the sale is ONGOING (as in right now!), allow me to post their Press Release instead:

Manels, the country’s leader in leather, will definitely earn a line of retro-lovers, vintage enthusiasts and even modern fashionistas as it brings a retro-inspired Anniversary Sale that will offer up to 50% off on all items.

Mark Siggaoat, youngest son of the founders and now heads Manels’ operations shares, “The anniversary sale has become a tradition to us. Following the fashion trends of the 60s, Manels brings the hippy, mod and rocker styles for a revolutionary comeback of the period. Manels boutiques will also echo the fashion phenomenon of the 60s such as the floral power, smart casual, and the “minis”. "Smallest" Cup to go

Lookie what we found at Starbucks the other day:

At first, S and I were hesitant to get this since it costs 195php each but it's too cute to pass up! What I especially love about this is that it doesn't look tacky at all. It doesn't look cheap or fake-- like you know you're getting the real deal.

I know, the price is a little too absurd especially for something so small but with Starbucks, I have learned that there's no room for second thought. You either get it or you don't co'z sooner or later (most likely sooner), the item won't be on sale anymore. So grab it while you can!

Share my outfit day: Little Miss General

Felt a bit edgy today so I decided to go out wearing a military-inspired blazer paired with basic white button down shirt and black shorts. To amp it up, I wore my gladiator sandals which is one of my favorite fashion finds from SM! It's a steal for only 800 bucks!

It was so hot in the morning that I wore the shorts with bare legs but since the weather is so off nowadays, I brought along stockings just in case. These days, I've gotten more and more into the stockings/ colored socks with sandals look. I guess it's from watching too much KBS. (my mom's addicted!) Before I thought it was a little eccentric but on a recent mall trip (me- wearing hot pink socks with my gladiators), I spotted a Korean girl wearing purple socks and pumps! So I guess I'm not completely alone on this! Hahaha!

Anyway, I'm slightly inspired to do more of these 'share my outfit day' posts because Freeway gave S and I press kits from their National Artists Series Collection (will post soon!) and it somehow served as a reminder of my love for clothes. I just hope I could keep this up! lol! :P

The BEST cheesecakes in town!

It's official. I declare Secret Recipes as having the BEST cheesecakes in the Metro! Seriously, I can't think of a competition! They win hands down!

I am in this "cake-slash-dessert" addiction phase right now that I'd even give up a meal just so I could eat dessert already. lol! Well right now, all I can think of eating is Secret Recipe's cheesecakes, it's driving me insane! Yummmmmmy!

Here's one of my favorite:
Choc cheese (140php/slice)

I'm not a big fan of chocolate but this one is so light and perfect! The combination is sooooo good!

This next one is for the health buffs, it's their fiber (something) cheesecake which has no trans fat and is full of oats, and other good stuff!
I just don't like the texture of this because it made the cake rough but other than that, it's another good offering! Also, this cake is on promo now along with their peach cake (which is also good!) and you get it for 100php with a free serving of tea! Perfect for the afternoon!

Just looking at these cakes makes me want to walk--no, run to Secret Recipes right now! All their cheesecakes and cakes are so good I find myself drooling at the mere thought of 'em. In case you're wondering, my ultimate favorite is the caramel cheesecake which does not look too appealing but tastes incredibly amazing!

If you haven't tried Secret Recipes yet, then I suggest you make it first priority this weekend!
